Adding money to your Yousend KES Wallet via Mobile Money is the most convenient way for Kenyan users to top up their account for local spending or cross-border remittance. This process is instant, secure, and utilizes the familiar M-Pesa platform.

Here is the simple, step-by-step guide to funding your KES wallet:

Step 1: Initiate the “Add Money” Request and Enter Amount

  1. Go to Wallet: Log into your Yousend mobile app and view your main KES Balance screen.
  2. Select Add Money: Tap the “+ Add money” button on your dashboard .
  3. Enter Amount: Input the amount of Kenyan Shillings you wish to add (e.g., 5,000 KES).
  4. Choose Payment Method: Under “Pay in KES,” select “Mobile Money.” Tap “Continue.”

Step 2: Add or Select Your Mobile Money Account

On the “Pay with” screen, you will provide the details of the Mobile Money account you wish to use for the payment.

  1. Select Account: If you have used a Mobile Money account before, it will be listed. If not, tap “+ Add mobile money account.”
  2. Enter Details: You will be prompted to enter:
    • First Name (e.g., John)
    • Last Name (e.g., Doe)
    • Mobile Money Operator: Select the correct operator (e.g., M-Pesa).
    • Mobile Number: Enter your active +254 Kenyan mobile number (e.g., 70283143310).
  3. Continue: Tap “Continue” after reviewing the details.

Step 3: Review and Send the Payment Request

  1. Review Summary: The app will show a final “Review details” summary.
    • Amount to add: (e.g., 1,200 KES)
    • Fee: (e.g., 200 KES)
    • You will receive: (The net amount you want, e.g., 1,000 KES)
  2. Continue: Tap “Continue.” Yousend will now send a payment request directly to your phone.

Step 4: Authorize the Payment on Your Phone

This step happens outside of the Yousend app, using the secure Mobile Money prompts on your device.

  1. Wait for Prompt: A prompt (often called a STK push or USSD prompt) will appear on your phone screen, sent from the Mobile Money service. This prompt confirms that Yousend (or its payment partner) is requesting the payment.
  2. Verify Amount: Check that the amount requested on the prompt matches the amount you initiated in the Yousend app.
  3. Authorize: Enter your Mobile Money PIN directly into the prompt on your phone’s screen to authorize the payment.
  4. Confirmation: The Yousend app will display a checkmark and the message, “Payment request sent. Please confirm the prompt sent to [Mobile Number].”

Step 5: Final Confirmation

  • Completion: Once you successfully authorize the payment on your phone’s prompt, the funds are debited from your Mobile Money account.
  • Wallet Credit: Your Yousend KES Wallet will be credited instantly!
